Our Field

Younger adults and those Americans who live in the Western part of the United States are much less likely to believe in God than are those living elsewhere.

The highest number of atheists and agnostics live in the western USA.

One quarter of western U.S. adults claim no religious affiliation

Our Mission

God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. I’ll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age.

The Great Commission,
The Message
Practices

Spiritual practices, not merely right beliefs.

A Church Planting Order

In the ancient church, spiritual orders like the Order of St. Benedict and the Order of St. Francis organized themselves around a set of practices. They devoted themselves to practices like voluntary poverty, works of mercy, and living in community. The Benedictines stayed put while the Franciscans traveled. Each developed what came to be called a Rule of the Order. The rules were born out of a desire to focus where the Spirit inspired.

Beliefs and values are essential, however we don’t believe either is capable of providing spiritual nourishment apart from practice. Beliefs tell why. Practices tell how.

We are developing a Rule of the Order of Churches for the Sake of Others and a set of practices. These practices are born out of a desire to follow Jesus as he seeks to serve others through us.

We will plant churches that exist for the sake of others.

Each church will plant two new churches every five years.

We will practice serving in the following ways:
  • Personally – Noticing others, listening to them and being curious about their lives, being alert to the Spirit
  • Locally – Join with others to serve your local community in acts of compassion and identification
  • Regionally – Plant other churches in your region and take on regional issues of justice, etc.
  • Globally – Be a voice for the voiceless, use your power on behalf of the powerless....

Focused on Otherlyness

The Gospel of the Kingdom isn't concentrated on just going to heaven. At C4SO we want to inspire Ambassadors of the Kingdom who will experience a transformed life in their everyday life. These passionate followers of Jesus will reach out to those around them in their homes, work and community.

The natural outcome of this vibrant new faith is to...

Announce - proclaim the Good News
Embody - live with spiritual integrity
Demonstrate - serve those around us
