Cords of Grace: Ministering to Those Affected by Memory Loss
St. Stephen’s Church in Sewickly, PA recently has shared with C4SO a program they’ve developed to minister to those suffering from dementia, Alzheimer’s disease and other memory loss issues – as well as those who care for them. As church members are finding new strength and hope through this program and God’s love, church leaders recognized that this ministry is easily replicated and could be incredibly valuable to other churches and congregations. With that in mind, they have been kind enough to offer their group meeting curriculum online for free.
The curriculum for group meetings specifically is designed to minister to members of the congregation with songs, artwork, exercises, biblical devotions and prayer activities—to engage caregivers and those with memory loss.
Content is based around a book, Cords of Grace: A Faith-based Support Group Guide for Those with Memory Loss and Their Care Partners. Facilitators may customize the St. Stephens monthly meeting resources to any specific needs or interests their group may have.
This biblical tool is designed to give knowledge, comfort and hope to those affected by memory loss. You are welcome to use it as a resource for those within the church, as well as share it with anyone who is seeking spiritually-based guidance for this life-changing affliction. You may download the resources from the St. Stephen’s website here.
