This year, seeking to resource and support Deacons and cultivate more active, well-trained Wardens/Vestries, C4SO launched two new communities: 1) the College of Deacons and 2) the College of Wardens.
1. The College of Deacons
The College of Deacons will create an infrastructure and team to connect C4SO deacons with resources and support. The College will also seek to widely educate people about the foundational Order of the Diaconate and its important place in the local church.
Leader: Erin Moniz
The Rev. Dr. Erin Moniz was ordained a deacon in 2016 and serves at All Saints Waco. She is also an Associate Chaplain and Director for Chapel at Baylor University. She ministers to and creates content for emerging adults.
A Greeting From Erin
“I have always loved being a deacon and how we get to serve in our local church while flexing our ministry gifts outside of the church. As deacons we are uniquely called to communicate the needs of the world to the church. I get to serve as a chaplain to college students and then connect other Anglicans to this wonderful demographic. With a team of both newer and veteran deacons, I hope to generate a robust initiative that will enhance not only C4SO’s diaconate, but all clergy and lay ministries.”

Erin will begin to offer resources and regular Zoom gatherings for deacons in the next few months. If you are a C4SO deacon, whether transitional or vocational, we have placed you on our diaconate email list, and we will notify you of upcoming opportunities. In the meantime, connect with Erin for more information.
2. The College of Wardens
C4SO churches need informed, trained and supportive Wardens, as well as fully engaged Vestries. This space will serve as an extended resource to C4SO lay leaders to build relationships, offer support and training, create a learning community, and provide spiritual care and leadership formation.
Leader: David Roseberry
The Rev. Canon David Roseberry has been an ordained Anglican priest for over 40 years. He served as the founding Rector of Christ Church, in Plano, Texas for over 30 years. Currently, he is the Executive Director of the non-profit ministry LeaderWorks, which serves leaders and congregations in the Anglican Church in North America. He also leads The LeaderWorks Trust, a kickstarter program granting funds for Anglican congregations and ministries, helping them clarify their vision and mobilize supporters to give generously to it.
A Greeting From David
“I am honored that C4SO’s Diocesan Bishop, Todd Hunter, has invited me to lead a series of Zoom sessions on the calling, purposes, duties, challenges and responsibilities of serving as a Warden for Vestries and congregations. When Wardens are elected or appointed—and there are churches that do both—it’s important to ask questions like, What are the duties? How does it work? Where does the Vestry fit on the organization chart? This is why I am grateful for the opportunity to provide a few sessions where Wardens (both Junior and Senior) can come together and learn with their current Vestry members and anyone who is about to join the Vestry.”
