As the body of Christ, we have a spiritual mandate to protect those most vulnerable and to ensure the welfare and safety of all young people at our churches. With a special emphasis on training and awareness in September, C4SO helps our clergy and churches safeguard children and youth from any form of misconduct throughout the year.

We ask our Rectors to:

  1. Obtain and maintain sexual misconduct insurance coverage.
  2. Adopt policies and procedures that comply with terms and conditions set forth by their insurance carrier in respect to sexual misconduct.
  3. Work with their Congregation Coordinator to adopt the C4SO Child Protection Policy and the C4SO Youth Protection Policy.
  4. Work with their Congregation Coordinator to comply with the C4SO Implementation Guide for the Protection of Children and Youth in Local Congregations.
  5. Work with their Congregation Coordinator to ensure that all staff, volunteers, interns and fellows at their church have completed MinistrySafe Training or an alternate, comparable program.
  6. Submit a compliance form by September 30.

We ask our Clergy to:

Complete MinistrySafe Training, which is required every two years. If a clergy person is due to renew their training, they will receive an email with a training link from MinistrySafe. Complete the training by September 30.

We ask our Laity to:

If you are a staff member, volunteer, intern or fellow at a C4SO church, we ask that you complete MinistrySafe Training, which is required every two years. MinistrySafe equips churches with the resources to create a complete child safety system designed to reduce the risk of child sexual abuse. We’ve made MinistrySafe training easily accessible to all of our churches and everyone serving in them.

If you are due to renew your training, your Congregation Coordinator or Rector will let you know. Please complete the training by September 30. Thank you for doing your part to keep our children and youth safe! ??
