Episode: Cherith Fee Nordling on Pentecost

Published On: May 7th, 2024

Bishop Todd and Mickey continue our Pentecost series by examining all things Holy Spirit with theologian Dr. Cherith Fee Nordling. Daughter of the notable pneumatological theologian Gordon Fee, Cherith reflects on her father’s life and how he leaned into order, intelligibility and knowledge as a gift of love for the people of God. She traces her growth from a transactional relationship with the Spirit to one of freedom and presence, and answers practical questions like “What does it mean to live a life surrendered to the Spirit in 2024?”

Cherith Fee Nordling (Ph.D., University of St. Andrews) is Associate Professor at the Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies. She formerly served as Associate Professor of Theology at Northern Seminary in Lisle, IL. She is the author of Knowing God by Name. She lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan with her husband Robert and their dog, Bowyn. Cherith’s passion is to see the reconciled Church conformed to Jesus in the power of the Spirit, with particular attention to racism and sexism.
