Episode: Hope on the Inside: A New Ministry of C4SO
This episode celebrates the launch of C4SO’s prison ministry initiative, Hope on the Inside. Led by the Rev. Lisa Durr of Good Shepherd Nashville, along with colleagues Mary Anne Locke and Michelle Bonner, Hope on the Inside seeks to establish, nurture and support spiritual communities inside prisons, creatively caring for residents. When residents are released, the ministry seeks to build spiritual communities of creative care serving as bridges of transition to independence. Bishop Todd talks with Lisa, Mary Anne and Michelle about their experiences visiting, teaching and befriending the incarcerated, as well as how you and/or your church can join this important work. Lisa Durr is the executive director of Hope on the Inside. She is a retired obstetric nurse. Lisa is a wife, mother and grandmother. She has an M.A.C.M. with an emphasis in theological instruction. She is an Anglican priest with C4SO, adjunct professor at Lipscomb University, spiritual director and retreat facilitator with a calling to guard, protect and nourish souls.
Mary Anne Locke is the assistant director of Hope on the Inside. She has a M.A.C.M. with an emphasis in spiritual formation. Mary Anne is a wife, mother and grandmother. She is a spiritual director, volunteer for Lipscomb Initiative for Education (LIFE) on the inside, LifePlan Facilitator and executive coach. With over 20 years in ministry, her aim is closing the gap between people and processes, and her call is to be a trusted companion with others on the journey of life.
Michelle Bonner is a consultant to Hope on the Inside. She has rich experience with life on the inside and has valiantly overcome the steep challenges of transition on the outside. She is the mother and grandmother of seven girls! Her call is guiding those on the inside and those transitioning to life on the outside toward hope with firm and practical advice.
