Episode: Safeguarding Our Young People From Abuse and Harm
September is Child and Youth Protection Month at C4SO. During this month, we focus on helping our churches safeguard the physical, emotional and spiritual health of the most vulnerable in our care—our children. As Bishop Todd says, “Caring for our children is a sacred trust.” Sadly, even in the Church, the vulnerable continue to be exploited, so we must take action to prevent it.
C4SO takes protecting children and youth VERY seriously. That involves ALL our clergy and church staff and volunteers completing a training called MinistrySafe each year and signing a compliance form stating that they have implemented the diocesan standards set out in our Child and Youth Protection Policies.
Today we’ve invited Kelli Marsh, an attorney with the Church Law Center of California, to be with us to talk about why this training is so important from a legal perspective.
