C4SO CLERGY CLASS
BE THE BRIDGE
Goal: For white brothers and sisters to become more educated and aware of racism and its impact on society and the Church, in order to become better advocates against the sin of racism and the injustice it has caused, as well as to build healthier relationships with our black and brown brothers and sisters.
Dates:
- Wednesday, Feb. 10
- Wednesday, Feb. 17
- Wednesday, Feb. 24
- Wednesday, March 3
- Wednesday, March 10
- Wednesday, March 17
Time: 2:00-3:30 pm EST
Material: We will be using a 6-week curriculum that Redeemer Community Church put together, which leans heavily on Be the Bridge 101: Foundational Principles Every White Bridge-Builder Needs to Understand. We will also have a weekly reading/listening list of relevant articles, books, and sermons.
If you decide to participate in the class, we ask that you purchase:
- Be the Bridge 101: Foundational Principles Every White Bridge-Builder Needs to Understand
- White Awake by Daniel Hill
- Rediscipling the White Church by David Swanson
Class size: 7-9. If this class fills up, we will continue hosting classes as long as clergy are interested.
Requirements:
- 100% participation. Make sure you can be at every class before you commit.
- Prayer. God has always and will always work through our prayers. Be praying for wisdom, unity, and growth as we dive into this material together.
- Humility. There may be a temptation to “prove” how much we know about race, racism, etc., with our comments/questions and/or by how we respond to others’ comments/questions. Fight this temptation. Instead, we will commit to remaining humble, remembering that we ALL have room to grow. Any growth we have is the result of God’s kindness.
If you are interested in participating in the class, please fill out the form below. We will contact you with a Zoom link before the Feb. 10 start date, or place you on a wait list for an upcoming class.
