Meet Bishop-Elect Jeff Bailey

Jeff Bailey, Ph.D., was formerly the Canon for Leadership Development in the Diocese of Christ Our Hope, where he worked closely with the Bishops to oversee clergy formation, theological education and various strategic initiatives ranging from church planting to cultural engagement. He also serves as a priest at Church of the Advent in Washington, D.C.
Prior to this, Jeff spent 10 years in parish ministry, as both a pastor and church planter. He and his family then lived in England for eight years, where he taught public theology at the University of Cambridge, and later became the Managing Director of the Centre for Social Justice, a policy think tank in London focused on poverty and economic opportunity.
He is co-editor of the Eerdman’s Reader in Contemporary Political Theology, and sits on various boards and advisory panels for organizations working at the intersection of faith and public life. He is adjunct Professor of Christian Thought at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and is a graduate of Duke University and the University of Cambridge.
He lives with his wife Alicia, a psychotherapist in private practice, and they have three children in college.
