Beneath the soaring white steeple of Truro Anglican Church—a historic landmark in the heart of Fairfax, Virgina—hundreds of Anglicans from across the country gathered September 26-27, 2025, for a weekend steeped in both remembrance and anticipation: the Consecration and Installation of the Rt. Rev. Dr. Jeff Bailey as C4SO’s new Bishop.

The two-day celebration began Friday evening with a reception for Bishops and their wives, followed by a lively courtyard reception for all attendees. As the sun set behind the church’s brick façade, guests spilled into the open-air space, where tables were lined with cocktails, appetizers and desserts. A live jazz band struck up a soundtrack that mingled with laughter and conversation as Bishops, clergy, lay leaders and friends reconnected or forged new connections.

On Saturday morning, the atmosphere was filled with eager expectation. Inside Truro’s light-filled sanctuary known for its colonial-style architecture and role in the city’s civic and spiritual life, clergy processed down the center aisle to a thunderous rendition of “All Creatures of Our God and King,” backed by a pipe organ. The Consecration itself, led by Archbishop Steve Wood of the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA), was punctuated by prayers, Scripture readings and the laying on of hands to bless and commission Bishop Jeff. The Rev. Thomas Hinson of Church of the Advent in Washington D.C. delivered the homily. For those unable to attend in person, the service was livestreamed, drawing viewers from across the United States.

“This is not only the consecration of a Bishop,” says Bishop Todd Hunter, C4SO’s Founding Bishop, who is retiring after 16 years at the helm. “It is the turning of a page in the life of our diocese. We look back with gratitude and forward with great hope.”

Bishop Jeff brings a wide-ranging background to the role. Formerly Canon for Leadership Development in the Diocese of Christ Our Hope, he has overseen clergy formation, theological education and ministries spanning church planting to public engagement. He also served as a priest at Church of the Advent.

Known for combining pastoral sensitivity with intellectual rigor, Bishop Jeff has been described by colleagues as both approachable and visionary. “He listens deeply and thinks strategically,” says Bishop Emeritus Steve Breedlove, the Founding Bishop of the Diocese of Christ Our Hope, who offered a testimonial during the service. “That’s a rare combination in church leadership.”

Together with his wife, Alicia—a psychotherapist—and their three college-aged children, Bishop Jeff steps into the new role with “joy and openness to the Spirit’s leading.”

Following the service, the celebration concluded with a reception in Truro’s fellowship hall. Conversations buzzed with joy and hope for the future.

One word was heard again and again throughout the weekend: gratitude. C4SO is grateful for Bishop Todd’s years of faithful leadership, the Spirit’s work in raising up Bishop Jeff, and the community that gathered in Fairfax to witness the beginning of a new chapter.

Enormous gratitude goes out to the Rev. Jamie Brown and the whole Truro team, who welcomed C4SO with the utmost hospitality, and provided volunteers who served selflessly all weekend to ensure that everything was just right.

Father, thank you for making Jeff a Bishop in your Church. Pour out upon him the power of your princely Spirit, whom you bestowed upon your beloved Son Jesus Christ, with whom he endowed the apostles, and by whom your Church is built up in every place, to the glory and unceasing praise of your Name.
