A Greeting From Bishop Jeff

Dear Clergy and Lay Delegates,

Thank you for contributing to the life of our diocese by representing your local church at our annual C4SO Diocesan Convention on Saturday, November 8 at 11:30 a.m. ET.

Diocesan Conventions (sometimes called Synods) are a vital part of the Anglican world—traditionally the one time a year where the clergy and lay delegates from all C4SO churches gather to hear from the Bishop and other key leaders, vote on important topics, and pray and worship together.

This will be my first Convention as C4SO’s new Diocesan Bishop, and I’m looking forward to being with all of you! As you know, Bishop Todd Hunter retired at the end of September, just a few days after I was consecrated as his successor at Truro Anglican Church. I was honored that many of you were there to join us for this special celebration.

Over the last couple of months I’ve been traveling around the country, visiting C4SO churches and clergy, and witnessing firsthand all that God is doing. Thank you for your warm reception!

As we move through this season of transition, C4SO is embarking on a new chapter in our life together, building a Spirit-led future on the strong foundation laid by Bishop Todd. While I have much to learn over the coming months, I am filled with anticipation for all God wants to do in our diocese. And I’m so grateful to be doing this with an amazing diocesan team, and incredibly gifted, mature leaders throughout C4SO.

I look forward to seeing you on November 8, as we celebrate God’s ongoing faithfulness to C4SO and to prepare ourselves for the exciting future he has in store.

Grace and peace,
Bishop Jeff Bailey

2025 Ministry Updates

By the Rev. Canon Amy Rozko

Ordination Highlight PhotoHighlights
One of the highlights from this past year was the ordination service at Christ Church Overland Park during the Clergy Conference, where Bishops Todd and Brian ordained 10 new Transitional Deacons and one new Priest. It was especially meaningful to have Bishops Todd, Brian, and Jeff all participate in this historic service.

This year, we added a time for clergy to reaffirm their vows—a sacred and moving moment for everyone present.

Another significant milestone was the creation and implementation of a new database designed to serve both clergy and those in the ordination process. We were blessed by Dustin Curzon, a member of Cornerstone Tulsa, who generously offered his time and talent to help us build this new resource. We’ve already launched a digital Application for Holy Orders, and additional forms will be added soon to make the process more accessible and efficient. This tool will reduce redundancy and save valuable time for those in discernment.

Prayers for 2026
Please pray for me as I respond to inquiries and guide individuals through each step of the ordination discernment process. In the coming year, we anticipate continued revisions and improvements to the highly regarded Anglican Foundations Program and pray that it remains formative for all who participate.

Church Planting Image

Highlights
This year we celebrated the growth and flourishing of our existing church plants, the launch of three new congregations, and the deep connections forged among our planters. We also held a Church Planting Summit where 18 of our rectors gathered to catch a vision for planting daughter churches.

Prayers for 2026
Pray that the vision for every C4SO congregation to plant a daughter church within the next three to five years would take root in the hearts of our leaders.

Anglican Foundation ImageHighlights
2025 has been a year of tremendous growth for the Anglican Foundations Program! Since its launch in 2024, nearly 150 participants have enrolled in one or more courses, and this year we celebrated our first group of 37 program “graduates.”

I’m deeply grateful for the team of C4SO clergy who have faithfully served as small group leaders for AFP. Their ministry has helped guide participants through the course content and helped connect them to one another for deeper learning and community.

Prayers for 2026
As we look ahead to 2026, please pray for us as we continue to strengthen the program. In the coming year, we’ll be developing an online learning platform to host AFP courses—enhancing accessibility and creating a more robust learning experience. We’ll also conduct curriculum review to ensure continuing alignment with C4SO’s needs and ordination requirements. Pray that these efforts will deepen the spiritual formation of participants and contribute to greater depth and effectiveness in ministry across the diocese.

Diaspora Network HIghlight Photo

Highlight
We gathered with people from over 50 ethnic backgrounds, worshiping and dancing in six different languages during the Nations Worship Night—the kickoff to our annual Diaspora Conference. The featured photo commemorates a time of prayer and thanksgiving for Bishop Todd upon his retirement, in gratitude for his faithful support of Diaspora ministry.

Prayers for 2026
Please pray for the new Latino church plant cohort launching in January—that God would raise up C4SO Hispanic leaders and inspire churches across our diocese to reach out to Latino communities with the love of Christ.

College of Deacons ImageHighlights
This past year has been one of steady building and intentional listening for the College of Deacons. We officially established our leadership team—myself, Mel Clymer, Eric Strumberg, and Juliet San Nicolas de Bradley—and have been holding listening sessions with each of our deacons. The ordination service at the Clergy Conference was a beautiful moment to celebrate as we welcomed several new deacons. With so many new ordinations and transitional deacons, we’re finally finding a rhythm for staying current and connected.

Prayers for 2026
We would love prayer for: wisdom in connecting deacons across our wide geography, creativity and grace in strengthening our network, and every deacon to feel encouraged and empowered in both parish and diocesan life.

Highlights:

Looking back on this year, I’m grateful for the opportunities to enjoy more friendship with clergywomen in the diocese. I’m also thankful for the one-on-one conversations I’ve had where I get to know people and ministry context more clearly. And I appreciated a great lunch gathering with the Culture & Values team at the Clergy Conference.

Prayers for 2026:

I’m praying for our clergywomen to feel seen, known and supported. I’m also praying for our newly-formed Women in Holy Orders Core Team—I am thankful to have their insights and inputs. And finally, I’m praying for the planning and execution of a C4SO Clergywomen’s Retreat. Our team is hard at work putting that together.

This was a busy year for us as we focused on helping local churches step into the urgent work of doing justice! Here are a few highlights:

  • We conducted 43 Intercultural Development Inventories that give us language and a tool to measure our progress in navigating cultural complexities.
  • We awarded six churches Future Leaders Grants to invest in future leaders of color in our diocese!
    1. All Saints Naperville
    2. Christ Our Life Raleigh
    3. Immanuel Austin
    4. Vintage Pasadena
    5. Redeemer Atlanta
    6. St. Luke Medical District

  • We completed a study of Immanuel Atlanta and their Jubilee Initiative to learn from their groundbreaking work in pursuing justice in their neighborhood.
  • We conducted numerous consults with other churches and rectors in their work of supporting people of color in their parishes.
  • We started a brand-new series called “Revelation 7:9 Preaching Justice Notes” to help C4SO preachers with ideas for better integrating justice into our sermons. (Stay tuned for a workshop on Preaching Justice!)
  • We are about to drop our podcast Revelation 7:9 Conversations! We have episodes with Terry Wildman (First Nations Version of the Bible), Dorena Williamson, Janette Ok (New Testament in Color) and Jemar Tisby, among others!
  • Oh, and for the really observant, you may have noticed we changed our name again—Revelation 7:9 Office for Racial Diversity and Justice!

Hope on the Inside Highlight PhotoHighlights
Miguel, an inmate at Riverbend Maximum Security Institution and a member of Hope on the Inside, approached me hesitantly and handed me an apple. Speaking in broken English, he said, “I know it’s not much, but I polished it,” offering it as a tithe. The apple was worth 35 cents—two full days’ wages in the prison laundry.

Hope on the Inside has grown significantly at Riverbend, both in numbers and in spirit. We are witnessing the power of the Gospel as men arrive with smiles, eagerly read Scripture, and confidently participate in responsive readings.

Our volunteer team is expanding, as is the men’s hunger for a deeper relationship with Jesus. The men come to the Table with profound gratitude and humility, receiving the elements, a blessing, anointing, and personal prayer.

This year, we’re thrilled that Beth Dixon and her team from Christ Church Anglican in Kansas City are leading Alpha in the local jail.

Prayers for 2026
As we look ahead to 2026, we pray that God will establish the work of our hands in ways that glorify Him and bring hope and freedom to the men on the inside.

Fresh Expressions Highlight PhotoHighlights
While C4SO has long valued diverse approaches to cultivating Christian community and ministry, it wasn’t until the establishment of the Church Multiplication Team in the fall of 2024 that Fresh Expressions became a formally recognized category of ministry. Thus, 2025 marked our first intentional year of focus in this area.

In March, in partnership with Fresh Expressions US, we hosted our first diocesan-wide Vision Day Workshop. This gathering provided an opportunity to hear from seasoned leaders about the why, what, who, and how of Fresh Expressions of church. More than 20 of our churches were represented, along with several guests.

Then, in September, we launched our first Pioneer Cohort—again in partnership with Fresh Expressions US. Twelve leaders (nine lay and three clergy) representing nine different contexts and four of our five deaneries began a five-month journey of training, coaching and discernment to help them cultivate fresh expressions of church as the Spirit leads.

Prayers for 2026
Please pray for three things:

  1. For the Pioneer Cohort — that participants would gain clarity about the people and places God is calling them to, and find partners for the work ahead.
  2. For our churches — that God would provide imagination and direction for this approach to church multiplication throughout our diocese.
  3. For future leaders — that God would continue to call and equip clergy and lay leaders alike for pioneering and experimentation, expanding our vision for what mission can look like.

NextGen Highlight Photo

Highlight
Over the weekend of September 19–21, 2025, 115 middle schoolers and adult leaders from four C4SO churches in the Midwest Deanery gathered for a retreat. Over three days, the group worshiped, prayed, and built friendships through countless games of 9-Square, sand volleyball, and pickleball. For two of the churches, it was the first time their students had gone away together for an extended retreat—a joyful launch as their youth communities continue to take shape.

Prayers for 2026
Pray for greater connection and collaboration between C4SO churches across the diocese, with the goal of establishing collaborative youth ministry in every deanery by 2026.

Highlights
One highlight of 2025 for Children’s & Family Ministry was our breakout session lunch at the C4SO Clergy Conference. We saw so many leaders connecting and sharing about the challenges and joys of forming children in Christ and equipping parents to teach them at home. Ministry leaders from coast to coast exchanged ideas, resources, contact information and solutions. Our team facilitated discussion, provided some resources for hands-on review and prayed for one another. The support was tangible, and we were grateful to hear that it was a helpful time for our churches.

Additionally, we gathered and discussed some essential topics this year at our bi-monthly network meetings. We guided attendees through some helpful steps in Planning & Budgeting for Children’s Ministry, and we shared Volunteer Training resources and Back to School Prayer ideas. Our group had some rich discussions on Sacramental preparation that included baptism, communion and confirmation. The ministry leaders in our diocese are eager to share and contribute in a significant way to our discussion time, and that has been a blessing to many. It is a joy to serve the Lord in this ministry!

Prayers for 2026
Please pray for God to provide strong connections among the Children’s & Family ministers in our diocese. Pray that we would continue to share prayer and resources with one another for the formation and spiritual growth of all families seeking to know and love the Lord.

The highlight for Kingdom Storytelling in 2025 was the opportunity to connect with the various storytellers from ten distinct communities across our diocese, including Bethany Ramse, the Director of Children’s Ministry at Church of the Vine in Newberg, OR. As a diocese, it is such a joy to see churches in our diocese respond to the work of the Spirit through beauty, mission and service.

Prayer for 2026
Our prayer for 2026 is a continual discernment to come alongside growing storytellers who desire to tell stories of the Kingdom in their communities and to find resources that can support their mission and ministries.
