by Jeremy McNeese

Want to help make Jesus known in the world? The Global Missions Initiative of the Anglican Church in North America wants to help C4SO clergy and churches organically engage in the global mission field —whether through giving, going, serving, praying, advocating, or other opportunities!

My name is Jeremy McNeese, and I serve as Associate Director of New Wineskins, a 48-year-old Anglican mission-mobilizing agency, and now also lead the Global Missions Initiative. Bishop Todd has asked me to serve as C4SO’s representative to the Global Missions Initiative. Our mission is to mobilize Anglicans for authentic cross-cultural partnership.

Practically speaking, we want to help every Anglican explain the following prayer in their own context:

And now, Father, send us out
to do the work you have given us to do, to love and serve you
as faithful witnesses of Christ our Lord.

The Global Mission Initiative wants to collaborate and communicate—building bridges throughout the ACNA with all the dioceses and through global partnerships in the Anglican Communion.

How You Can Get Involved

Whether you are interested in giving, going, serving, praying, advocating, or partnering to support cross-cultural missions, the Global Mission Initiative can help you get started!

  1. One way for a parish to be involved is to join the Anglican Global Mission Partners [AGMP], a working group made up of parishes, dioceses, and various mission agencies. This working group meets in person twice per year and regularly dreams and collaborates to further the kingdom of Christ. If you are interested in joining, contact me directly, and I will be happy to help you get started.
  2. Another way to be involved is to let either C4SO’s Global Consultant Manik Corea or me know about what your parish does in the form of mission (locally, nationally and/or globally). We would love to know how firstly to pray for your work, and secondly to share the good news of Christ’s kingdom expanding!
  3. One final way to be involved is specifically geared to recent graduates of high school and university. For high school graduates, the AGMP has a one-year program called “Agape Year.” During this gap year the participants will live in Ambridge, PA, serving through a local parish, and grow in their faith journey. They will end their year overseas—where they will be exposed to overseas mission in an Anglican context. The AGMP is also currently planning and coordinating a post-university program. If you are interested in or know a young adult that is interested in one of these programs, please let me know—I would love to talk with them!

What’s Ahead in 2022

Every three years, New Wineskins hosts the largest Anglican-focused missions conference in the world, and it is this coming September 22-25. I can’t wait! Our theme this year is “One Mission”. What we mean by that is while we may have different modes of work, different agencies, different specific callings, we all have one singular mission—to make Jesus known.

In an interview, one person stated, “Attending a New Wineskins Conference is like a little slice of Heaven.” There will be missionaries from all over the world there. Imagine the nations coming together for just four short days to worship, pray, and exchange ideas to further the Gospel? There are also pre- and post-conferences on a large variety of topics. Whether you are already on mission or just now exploring the idea, or perhaps you simply want to pray for the nations to be blessed—the New Wineskins Conference is a great opportunity that you won’t want to miss.

Right now until March 31st, the pricing for the conference is in the Early-Bird phase, so registration is at a great rate! Sign up here.

Please feel free to reach out to me anytime. I would love to visit your parish and bring greetings!

Jeremy McNeese grew up in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, and it was there that his heart for missions first was captured. He attended East Tennessee State University and quickly became a volunteer student with Campus Crusade for Christ (Cru), ministering to students around his campus. Once he graduated with his Bachelor’s degree, he joined the staff of Campus Crusade and spent the next 12+ years serving students around the world. In 2017, the Lord began to ask Jeremy to consider Holy Orders. As he discerned his call and prayed for the Lord to make his path clear, the Lord did just that by marrying his previous missionary experience with a role with New Wineskins that directly partners with local parishes. Jeremy and his wife, Meredith, live with their two children in Austin, Texas. The McNeese family are parishioners at C4SO’s Christ Church of Austin.
